Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) invites qualified and experienced financing partners, developers, and contractors to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the development of the Addu Freeport in Addu Atoll, Republic of Maldives. MPL is open to engaging with potential partners to explore flexible and innovative financing arrangements suited to the scale and scope of the project. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the transformation of the Maldives’ maritime logistics landscape.
Overview

The Addu Freeport is strategically positioned to become a major maritime logistics hub in southern Maldives, enhancing the nation’s shipping capacity and establishing Addu Atoll as a critical distribution center. The project will incorporate a Seafood Hub, fuel terminal, and bonded warehousing, in addition to normal container operations, catering to the growing global demand for efficient and reliable logistics solutions.
The facility will be developed in phases, with an initial investment sought for Phase One. The project will be executed under an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction + Financing (EPC+F) model. MPL will retain full operational control of the facility upon completion and is open to negotiating suitable financing structures with interested parties.
